Portfolios are required to be completed by every student in every English class. Failure to meet this requirement will have a detrimental effect on one's grade. |
| Senior Participation Graduation Ceremonies | The faculty, staff, and students of Bullitt Central High School encourage the responsibility represented by obtaining an education an exercising self-discipline. They also recognize that participation in graduation ceremonies is a privilege the school offers its seniors. To effectively promote belief in the responsibility discussed above, the following policy is in effect: Any senior who successfully passes each class during the second semester of his or her senior year may participate in graduation ceremonies. Any senior who successfully passes three out of four classes during the second semester of his or her senior may participate in graduation ceremonies if he or she meets the following criteria: A) must have completed all credit requirements; B) is in line with the attendance policy for his or her senior year; C) has no more than one discipline referral on file in the office for any offense excluding tardies for his/her senior year. (Note: Failure of a third or fourth quarter nine-weeks class does trigger the above criteria). Any senior who does not meet the above criteria shall forego participation in graduation ceremonies. Nonparticipation does not alter graduation requirements; anyone still meeting such may pick up his/her diploma after the ceremonies at the school during business hours on a date to be designated. To further encourage students to take advantage of their educational opportunities while at BCHS, teachers will work with counselors to foster parental participation. At the third-quarter mid-term the parents of any senior with the grade D or F in any class will be notified via letter or phone call by the teacher. At the end of the third quarter, the parents will be again notified by the counselor's office via fourth-quarter mid-term report of their son/daughter's status in any given class. |
