- Convene: Meeting convened at 4:46p.m. with Julia Barker, Jennifer Harrison, Kimberly Newton, Beverly Shaner, and Julie Buckner present.
- Opening Business
- Approve Agenda: Jennifer Harrison motioned and Beverly Shaner seconded the approval of the agenda with the addition of a discussion of the Scholastic Review added to Item IV-Review. There was consensus among the council.
- Minutes: The minutes from the January 17 and January 20 special meetings were reviewed. With minor corrections to each set, a motion was made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Julia Barker. There was consensus among the council.
- Good News Reports: Ms. Rutledge continues to have a team in first place in "First in Math", parent-teacher conference night went well with a good parent turn out. The attendance challenges continue, with the next challenge being on an individual basis for those with 97% or greater attendance. ESS has started and is going well with the high school tutors, Success Maker is in and a second round of EdPerformance testing has been completed. There have been strong gains shown in Math on the second round of testing. Hoops for Heart is underway, mid-term progress reports go home on the 27th, and third grading period incentive field trips are planned: the 6th graders will go roller skating, the 7th graders ice skating, and the 8th graders bowling. The academic team compete at regionals on February 18.
- Public Comment: There was no public comment at this time.
- Planning
- SBDM Budget Report: Ms. Buckner shared with the council an update on the SBDM budget. The additional funds that were received by the council upon distribution of final 05-06 allocations and have been used to make the purchases discussed by the Council in January. Tentative allocations for the 06-07 school year are forthcoming as the 5th attendance month has concluded.
- Title I- Ms. Buckner encouraged the council to begin thinking about how to allocate the upcoming Title I funds for the 06-07 school year. While we have no tentative allocations as of yet, they will be forthcoming. This topic will be discussed in more detail at the March meeting.
- Committee Reports: No committee reports at this time. Once 5th month attendance data is received, the Scheduling Committee will begin it’s work and make recommendations for the 06-07 school year.
- Review
- Consultation Policy: The Council reviewed the Consultation Policy. No action was taken.
- Scholastic Review Discussion: While the school has not yet received the report from the scholastic review completed the week of January 23, Beverly Shaner shared with the council some of the information from the interview she had with reviewers. She presented the suggestion that we make approved council minutes available to parents on the school web page. All council members agreed this was a good idea. Ms. Buckner will forward approved minutes to Dr. McIntosh for inclusion on the school web page. At the March meeting, the council will develop a policy on getting council information to parents.
- New Business: There was no new business at this time.
- Adjourn: Motion made by Jennifer Harrison at 6:17 and seconded by Beverly Shaner. There was consensus among the council.
