  1. Convene- Meeting was called to order at 4:54p.m. Members present were: Julia Barker, Jennifer Harrison, Kimberly Newton, Beverly Shaner, and Julie Buckner. Kimberly Newton is the new teacher representative on the Council filling the teacher vacancy created by the retirement of Jean Oney. No guests were in attendance.
  2. II. Opening Business

    1. Agenda- Motion made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Beverly Shaner to approve the agenda. There were no changes to the agenda as this was a special meeting due to a date change. There was consensus among the Council.
    2. Minutes- The minutes from the November 8 Regular Meeting were reviewed by the Council. With minor corrections, a motion was made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Beverly Shaner to approve the minutes. There was consensus among the Council.
    3. Good News Reports- The first Student Recognition Night was held on December 2 recognizing students for Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Proficient or Distinguished scores on CATS. The athletic banquet was held on January 16 with a huge turnout for the event. Beta Club Lock-In was held on January 13, and the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association Fifth District All District Band Concert was January 7 with 12 Bernheim students in attendance. Ms. Rutledge continues to have a team leading the region in First In Math now leading by over 5000 points. The winter band concert was held on December 16 and had a wonderful crowd. Prior to the concert there was discussion about PTA, however, no action was taken at that time.
    4. Public Comment- There was no comment from the public.
    1. Planning
      1. Committee Reports- There were no Committee Reports at this time.
    2. 2005-2006 Budget Report
      1. Mini-Grant Applications-At the November meeting, the Council reviewed the budget in light of final allocations. As there was an increase in the budget of $4,289, the Council called for applications from teachers, teams, or departments applying for mini-grants. Five grant applications were submitted. The Council approved three of the five. Approved were a grant for audio books, a slab roller for the visual arts department, and a request to supplement the purchase of SRA reading materials for the special education department; the Crusade for Children grant amount awarded would not cover the full purchase. Not approved were the request for a network laser printer as the copiers can be set up to function as printers for the computers across the building, and a request for grammar software as the school will be implementing SuccessMaker software within the next month.
    3. Review
      1. SBDM Policy Manual Second Reading- Council members were provided a copy of the policy manual that has been fully reviewed by the Board Attorney. A special meeting will be held on Friday, January 20 at 3:15 to do a second reading and approval of the manual.
      2. Council Election Procedures- To be reviewed at a special meeting, Friday, January 20.
      3. Recognition of Speakers- To be reviewed at a special meeting Friday, January 20.

      As the Council set the agenda for the special meeting, it was noted to include on the agenda a review of the current School Improvement Plan.

    4. Adjourn-Motion was made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Julia Barker to adjourn the meeting at 6:19. There was consensus among the Council.
