Special Meeting

4:45p.m.

  1. Convene-Meeting convened at 4:50p.m. Members present were Julie Buckner, chairperson, Julia Barker, Kimberly Newton, Jennifer Harrison, and Beverly Shaner. Craig Smith was not in attendance.
  2. Opening Business
    1. Agenda Approval-Beverly Shaner made the motion and Jennifer Harrison seconded that the agenda be approved. There was consensus among the Council.
    2. May Minutes-Council members reviewed draft of May minutes. Beverly Shaner made the motion and Jennifer Harrison seconded that the minutes be approved. There was consensus among the Council.
    3. Good News Reports-Julie Buckner reported that at the Relay for Life Bernheim won "Best Campsite" and "Top Fundraising" among the middle schools. Carnival Day and Field Day had both been successful at the end of the year. Ms. Medsker’s class won the 8th grade challenge, and the 8th grade ceremony went very well. The Beta Club had inducted 42 new members and had taken their trip to Holiday World. One Beta student will be traveling to the National Convention to represent our school at the end of June. The outdoor classroom work was well underway with the classroom being cleared and benches and a stage being constructed. Thanks go to Mr. Murphy, Mr. Dawson, Mr. Kemble, and Mr. Hart and many students who helped with the project. One student, a 7th grader, had been recognized for his achievements in a local golf tournament.
    4. Public Comment-There was no public comment at this time.
  3. Planning
    1. Textbook Plan and Budget Report-Julie Buckner shared with the Council the increase of approximately $900.00 in the textbook fund from our tentative allocations.
    2. Fundraising 06-07-Julie Buckner shared with the Council a list of possible fundraisers for the 06-07 school year. A motion was made by Julia Barker and seconded by Beverly Shaner that this proposed list be approved. There was consensus among the Council.

     

  4. New Business-Julie Buckner shared with the Council the latest copy of Insights and reported the change in bus times, with school doors opening at 7:40 this year. Class start time will remain the same at 8:00 and dismissal will be ten minutes later at 2:55p.m.
  5. Adjourn-At 6:16 a motion was made by Kimberly Newton and seconded by Julia Barker. There was consensus among the Council.
