- Convene- Meeting convened by consensus of the Council at 5:03p.m. Members present were Beverly Shaner, Dana Elkins, Jennifer Harrison, Julia Barker, Kimberly Newton, and Julie Buckner, Chairperson.
- Opening Business
- Agenda Approval- A motion was made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Julia Barker that the agenda be approved with the addition of information on the Striving Readers Grant program be added to Item III Student Achievement. There was consensus among the Council.
- Minutes-The Council reviewed a draft of the minutes from the August meeting. With grammatical corrections, Dana Elkins motioned that the minutes be approved. Jennifer Harrison seconded. There was consensus among the Council.
- Good News Reports- Ms. Newton has received 25 applications for Studio B Art after school, and the Pep Club is up and running with 30 students on board. The Academic Team is getting underway with applications and teacher recommendation forms due in the near future. The annual Florida trip paperwork is going home, and a parent meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 18th. September 12th is "High Attendance Day" across the state, and we are anxious to see how we compare. PTSA information has gone out to students. Ms. Shaner commented on our web-site and how she has referred parents of students at other schools to check out our site for resources.
- Public Comment-There was no public comment at this time.
- Student Achievement
- SuccessMaker-Math teachers are utilizing the lab 20 minutes twice a week getting initial performance data on students. We are awaiting the arrival of 14 computers from Hebron who is no longer a Title I school, so that we may implement a SuccessMaker lab freeing the MAC lab for other content are uses.
- ESS-Paperwork is going home to all students with mid-term progress reports. We will be adding a morning ESS component this year two mornings a week.
- Striving Readers Grant- Ms. Barker reported that the Striving Readers Grant intervention classes are underway. Currently 18 students who are reading two or more grade levels below 6th grade are involved. Thirty six 6th graders were identified as reading two or more grade levels below, and those not served in the intervention class this year as sixth graders will be served next year as seventh graders.
- CATS reports-Julie Buckner reported that she expected to receive CATS reports (Kentucky Performance Reports) at the Principal’s Meeting on Thursday, September 14th. Any information learned at that time will be embargoed until the September 21st release date. More information will be shared at the October meeting.
- Budget Reports
- Title I- The Council reviewed the Title I budget and discussed the proposal for a classified staff member to run the SuccessMaker lab. Council was in agreement that this was not the best expenditure of funds as teachers were handling this role. The Council discussed the possibility of additional instructional assistance in the library. Julie Buckner directed Council members to review the Federal Funding Matrix available on the district web site and this matter will be addressed again in October.
- Committee Reports-There were no committee reports at this time.
- Monthly Review
- Agenda Approval Rules-Council reviewed policy 01.08 regarding agenda approval rules. There was no action taken.
- Minutes Rules-Council reviewed policy 01.08 regarding minutes rules. There was no action taken.
VII. Adjourn- A motion was made by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Kimberly Newton to adjourn at 7:00. There was consensus among the Council.
