Basketball

Basketball is one of the most popular extra-curricular offerings at Bernheim Middle School for both boys and girls. As many as 60 boys regularly try-out for a spot on the 25 man roster, while as many as 40 girls try for a place on a 20 person roster. The school has two teams for each, a "B" Team, consisting of 6th and 7th grade students and an "A" team, consisting of 8th grade students.
To participate in basketball, students must maintain passing grades, have a current physical on file, and follow all school rules.
Bernheim is a member of a conference league comprised of middle schools from Bullitt, Nelson and Spencer Counties. The teams usually play about 15 games a season, plus one or two tournaments.
Bernheim's boys team was county champions in the 93-94 school year and has finished in second place in the county on two other occasions. Our girls' team was county champions in 2001.

Cheerleading

Bernheim Middle is enthusiastic and proud of its co-educational cheerleading squad. The squad regularly numbers between 11 to 14 students from the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. It cheers at both boys' and girls' basketball games throughout the season.
To participate as a cheerleader representing Bernheim Middle School, a student must exhibit the vital attributes of school spirit and good sportsmanship, both at home and away as a visitor at other schools. Attendance at both games and practices is a must in order to remain active on the cheerleading squad. Students must maintain passing grades, have a current physical on file, and follow all school rules.
Bernheim Middle School's cheerleading squad participates in local and state competitions.

Track

Track is a favorite spring sport at Bernheim Middle School for both boys and girls. The season is comprised of four tri-meets (3 schools competing) and an All-County Meet, in which all 4 of Bullitt County Public Schools middle schools take part.
Track offers a variety of events in which students can choose to participate: 55 meter hurdles (girls), 110 meter hurdles (boys), 100 meter dash (both), 1600 meter run (both), 400 meter relay (both), 400 meter dash (both), 70 meter dash (both), 200 meter dash (both), 800 meter run (both), 800 meter relay (both), high jump (both), long jump (both), shot (both), and discus (both).
Bernheim Middle's boys' track team was the 1998-1999 Bullitt County Middle School Champions. Individual boys' and girls' track team members have won first in county in various individual categories each year during the county meet.
