Bernheim Middle School opened in the fall of 1993, making it the newest
middle school in Bullitt County. However, the educational heritage of Bernheim
Middle actually begins much earlier than 1993. Prior to 1993, middle school students living in Bernheim's current district attended Shepherdsville Middle School. The school building, located in Shepherdsville, KY, was originally built in 1938 and served as a high school, junior high school, and middle school at different times over a 55 year period. Shepherdsville Middle School was closed at the end of the 1993 school year, and most of the staff and students were transferred to Bernheim Middle School in the fall of 1993. Currently, 5 certified staff members at Bernheim Middle School originally worked at Shepherdsville Middle School. |
