    3. Good News Reports- Julie Buckner shared with Council that on December 6th our students were treated to a band concert by the Bullitt Central High School Band and our first ever student variety show was performed for parents and guests that evening. The students saw a program delivered by the National Guard entitled "Freedom Calls". Podcasting is going well, and the first student published newspaper of the year is now available on podcast, plus we have received coverage in the Pioneer News regarding podcasting and hope for an article in the Courier Journal in the near future. There was also an article about our podcasting in the December issue of the KEA Newsletter delivered to all KEA members across the state. We are the first Bullitt County School to podcast. Jennifer Harrison and Gayle Katzman will have an article in the next issue of Kentucky Teacher regarding their team teaching and the science experiments they conducted to teach chemical and physical properties. On December 26th an article about the Striving Reader’s Grant and Bernheim’s participation in this grant is scheduled to run in the Courier Journal. The students involved in Studio B art, in addition to adding four new students, will be designing the banner to represent the Bullitt County Public Schools at the Kentucky School Board Association Conference in February and this banner will also be displayed at the Capitol in Frankfort. Eleven Bernheim students were selected to participate in All-District Band. The canned food drive ended today with a grand total of 875 items collected.
    4. Public Comment- Ms. Ragg did not attend this meeting.
    5. Managing Government Records/Kentucky Open Records and Open Meetings Act- Each Council member was provided a copy of these documents. There were no questions regarding these documents.
  3. Student Achievement
    1. Student Services Report/ESS- Mr. Hart, Guidance Counselor, presented to the Council a proposal for grade recovery during ESS as we will no longer be offering summer school as a means for credit recovery. Additionally, it is more important that these students master content now as opposed to in summer school. Input from teachers has been gathered. Parent input will be sought prior to any changes being made.
  4. Planning
    1. Technology Survey- Pending release of funds by the State to purchase computers, the Council has agreed, after spirited discussion, that any funds should be used for the purchase of desktop computers to be used in a lab setting. The current laptop lab should be used to focus on writing across the curriculum.
    2. Committees- The Council is in agreement to schedule a Committee Fair date for parents who may be interested in learning more about committees prior to volunteering to serve on a committee. This fair will take place on January 16 from 4-6p.m. January 23rd will be a date for all committees to meet.

Adjourn: At 6:49 there was a motion made by Dana Elkins to adjourn as Julie Buckner had a School Board meeting to attend at 7:00p.m. The remaining agenda items will be tabled until the next regular meeting scheduled for January 9, 2007 at 4:45p.m. This motion was seconded by Kimberly Newton.
