MINUTES

Approved April 3, 2007

1. Convene- The meeting convened by consensus at 5:02p.m. Members present were: Dana Elkins, Beverly Shaner, Jennifer Harrison, Julia Barker, and Julie Buckner, chairperson. Not present was teacher member Kimberly Newton.
2. Opening Business
1. Approve Agenda-A motion was made by Beverly Shaner and seconded by Dana Elkins that the agenda be approved. There was consensus among the Council.
3. Planning
1. Commonwealth School Improvement Funds- The Council reviewed a draft budget and a draft assessment component of the school improvement plan based upon findings reported by the scholastic review team from their February visit. We have not yet received the written report, however, the oral report from Ms. Veronica Taylor, the team lead on that review, noted next steps to be a focus on high expectations and analysis of student work. After thoughtful discussion, a motion was made by Julia Barker and seconded by Beverly Shaner to accept the draft budget and assessment component as it meets the needs of our school. There was consensus among the Council.
4. Adjourn- A motion was made at 5:52p.m. by Jennifer Harrison and seconded by Beverly Shaner that the meeting adjourn. There was consensus among the Council.
