       BAND NOTES

This weekend, the Hebron band participated in the music in the parks festival in Cincinnati, OH.  Besides enjoying the wonderful weather and having a great time at King's Island, the students performed for judges at King's High School along with several other schools from around the country.  The 6th grade band and the seventh grade band both gave great performances, each receiving a rating of excellent while the jazz band received the highest possible rating of superior!  During the awards ceremony, each ensemble received a first place ranking in their division and at the end, the Hebron band won the award of "Best Overall Middle School/Junior High School Band."  I am very proud of all of these students not only for their performance, but for their behavior and the way they represented themselves, their school, and all of Bullitt County.  A very special THANK YOU goes to Julie Werkmeister who gave up a Saturday with her family to travel and perform with the jazz band. I would also want to thank all of the parents who went to help ensure our students' success.  Thanks to all!

Looking ahead, the band will have two more performances this year.  The 7th and 8th graders will perform a joint concert with North Bullitt High School in their gym on May 29 and our end of the year concert with all of the band students will take place on June 5 here at Hebron.  The band students hope to see you there.  Have a wonderful rest of the school year!
