Get Your "H" On

Hebron Middle School is proud to introduce the "Get Your H On Program."  This program supports and recognizes Hebron students for being involved in school activities, doing community service, and exhibiting good citizenship.  It is a three year program that begins in 6th grade and ends at the 8th grade promotion ceremony.

Research shows that students who are actively involved in school activities and community service are less likely to drop out, experiment with drugs or alcohol, and have an increased sense of self-esteem.  It is the philosophy of Hebron Middle School staff that we will provide a variety of ways for students to participate in their community and school.

Here's how the program works.

Starting in 6th grade students will be given a choice of activities, clubs, sports, and community service projects in which they might participate.  As students become involved, they will meet the criteria to earn their varsity-style letter, H.  Each club or organization sponsor will verify that the student meets the established criteria and each group will provide a group-specific pin to be placed on the H, and which will be awarded at the end of year awards ceremony.

Students who remain involved will receive a bar for each successive year, silver for 7th grade and gold for 8th grade.  Students who did not earn their H in previous years, or who transferred into Hebron in 7th grade or 8th grade, may still earn their H, plus any pins or bars that are earned for that year.

During the 8th grade year, students are asked to return their H, with all pins and bars earned.  This will be framed for the student and will be presented to the student at the 8th grade promotion ceremony.

Students may earn their H and pins in

Basketball,            Cheerleading,               Track & Field, Student Technology Leadership Program,

Drama,               Intramural Bowling,          Academic team, Band,                       Beta Club,                        Energy Team, Perfect Attendance,           Honor Roll,

as well as community service involvement, either through our Youth Service Center or through various charities, church groups, and other volunteer opportunities.

Students will have a form on which they mark the groups in which they are involved, and the club sponsor, or the person overseeing their volunteer organization will sign-off on their eligibility for the pins.
