Principal’s Pause

Dear Parents,

CATS’ testing is finally here!  As I write this letter, I must say that our first day of testing was a success.  Our students were attentive and focused and they had their game faces on.  I love the serious approach they are taking toward this test.  The effort they put forth on this test is a reflection of their hard work throughout the year.  It is also a reflection on our staff and our school as a whole.  I want to thank the parents of all our students for getting our students here on time each and every day of testing.  I also want to thank you for instilling in them a sense of pride toward their achievement on this test.

Looking back on our preparation for this testing, I want to commend all the individuals that stayed after on Fridays to participate in Think Link.  I believe it made a difference in their test taking skills and their math and reading skills.  As a reward for their efforts, we will have a skating party after the testing for all those involved with Think Link.  We will also include all the sixth graders as their representatives earned the most proficient scores.  We are also having Dress Down/Jeans Days for the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after testing.  This will be a reward for good faith effort on the test.  Finally, those that did their best on the test will be part of the Radio Disney Program we have planned for May 23rd.  This was a lot of fun last year and I am sure the students will enjoy it this year.

And even with testing closing out the month of April, we still intend to focus on education and work hard in the classroom as we approach May and June.  We have several educational field trips planned for the month of May.  Our Gifted/Talented students will be taking a Trip to Bernheim Forest to brainstorm some ideas for our “outdoor classroom”.  They will be involved in a friendly competition to determine the first project that we will complete to start this idea.  Also, many of our 7th and 8th graders will be going to Philadelphia on May 12th-16th and our I-Leap students will be going to St.Louis on May19th-20th.  As always, we have many opportunities to look forward to as our year comes to an end.

Thank You,

Mr.Barbagallo

Band

n March 20, students from the Hebron Beginning Band, Advanced Band, and Jazz Band participated in the North Region Music Festival at North Bullitt

On March 28, the Hebron Advanced Band participated in the Kentucky Music Educators Association Assessment Festival.  They received an overall score of proficient and also received a distinguished in the sight-reading portion of the event

Mrs. Meade's classes will be presenting projects during the week of May 5th.  Students should be working hard to finish their projects to be turned in on that date.  On that date, they will need to have a 3 D model of their project and do a 3-5 minute oral presentation on it.  The model counts 40% and the oral presentation is worth 60% of their grade.  If they read either their note cards or their report, the highest score they can receive will be 69%.  I am expecting some great models and presentations this year.
