Way to Go Braves!

Important Car Rider Information

Morning Car Riders: Due to increased congestion on 44, we are having to tweak our morning car rider drop off procedures. Starting Thursday, August 14, please form 6 drop off lines in the back parking lot ( similar to the way we do afternoon pick up.) ONLY 6 LINES PLEASE. Pull in behind one of the orange cones that will mark the lanes. It is imperative that adults remain in the vehicles and allow the students to exit themselves. If they need assistance, a MWES staff member will be there. Please be courteous to fellow drivers and allow people to turn in and out if possible. Bus service is always available. We are fortunate to have wonderful drivers here at MWES. If you need assistance is finding information about bus pick up/drop off, please call us. We will be happy to help you.

Afternoon Car Rider Pick Up: Just a reminder that the back parking lot does not open for cars until the 3:00. Please do not arrive for pick up until after 3:00. Dismissal is not until 3:40. We are having cars back up on 44 because they are arriving so early. Please know that the MW police can ticket cars for sitting on 44 and blocking traffic. This back up is causing an unsafe situation.

We Want YOU to be Involved!

Message from Lyn Morris, Volunteer Coordinator:

I would like to start by thanking the many volunteers who have already taken time out of their busy schedules to volunteer. I also encourage others who might be considering it. Research has shown that students whose parents volunteer to help at school have a higher academic achievement & better attitude. We have a wonderful volunteer program at MWES. Our volunteers are a vital part of our school for our staff & students. We have many needs & this is an excellent opportunity for you to become involved. No training or experience is needed. You can help the teachers in ways which give them more time to provide extra personal attention to our students.

There will be a short orientation for all volunteers, whether you’re a “regular” volunteer, new to our school or have just decided to get involved. It will be held on Thursday, August 28th at 6:00 pm in the school library.

I’d love the opportunity to meet you, get you familiar with our school & how volunteering works & to meet other volunteers.

Please feel free to contact me to RSVP or if you have any questions at or 869-3046.

I look forward to seeing you on August 28th at 6:00 pm!

Just a few reminders…..

If you are interested in applying for Free and/or Reduced Lunch, we encourage you to apply on line using the link located on our web page. If you would like a paper application, please send in a note to your child’s teacher and we will be happy to send one home.

Start planning…our first district wide Planning Day is set for September 15th. There will be no school for students that day to allow critical teacher training.

Spirit Wear: We have had several families asking about how to order MWES Brave t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies. We use a local t-shirt company. You can access their web site at On this site you can choose your design, color and size. Any combination you like! T-shirts will be shipped to school and sent home with students. Very nice shirts at a very reasonable price!

MWES will be kicking off our Fall Fundraiser on August 20th. We will be participating in a catalog sale for the first time in many years. This is our big school wide fundraiser. Please consider helping us. Information will be coming home soon!

Dads, granddads, uncles, step dads, adults brothers… PLEASE mark August 26th 5:30–6:30 on your calendars! MWES is hosting a WATCH D.O.G. organizational Pizza Night. This will be chance for our new Brave families to come hear about exactly what our WATCH D.O.G. program is all about and a time for our returning families to sign up for volunteer days. Make sure to bring your Brave with you! I am looking forward to seeing all of you then.

Thanks to everyone for their help with morning and afternoon car rider procedures!
