The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a free online reading program for children. Join today and let’s set a new reading world record for summer 2014! (May 5 - Sept 5, 2014)

Just a few reminders….. We have a busy week ahead!

There is no school on Monday, September 1, 2014.

PTA budget meeting will be held September 8th at 6 pm.

Grandparents Week and our school wide book fair will kick off next week! Information has been sent home. The book fair will run September 4–12th. Remember that all visitors during that time will need a picture ID and need to be listed on the child’s reservation form or on their emergency contact list. Family Night at the Book Fair is Sept. 8 from 4-6 pm.

Start planning…our first district wide Planning Day is set for September 15th. There will be no school for students that day to allow critical teacher training.

MWES Fall Fundraiser will continue through September 2. We will be participating in a catalog sale for the first time in many years. This is our big school wide fundraiser. Please consider helping us. Information will be coming home soon! Ask your child about the Game Truck and the Dog food Challenge!

PTA Skating Party is set for Tuesday, September 9 from 6–8 pm at Skate-A-Rama on Preston.

Blessings,
Terri Lewis
Principal, MWES

Community Partners for Reading
We need volunteers who are willing to commit 30 minutes weekly, at your convenience, read with a child at MWES. We would love to have you join us in our effort to make a difference in a child's life! To learn more or to volunteer, please contact Lyn Morris.

Box Tops for Education Pay
Keep sending in your neatly cut BOX TOP$ on a Box Top entry form that you may pick up from the office (or click here to print one).

You may also send in Box Tops that have been neatly cut out in a ziplock bag. Please place BONUS Box Tops in a separate bag. Please label how many Box Tops are in the bag and the student’s name on the outside of the bag.

We are also taking part in a national fundraising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. called Tyson Project A+™. Through this program, we can raise as much as $12,000 for our school this year! All we have to do to participate is clip and save the entire Project A+™ label from participating Tyson products. Each label we collect is worth 24˘ for our school. For more information, including eligible products click here.
