Hello MWES Family!

We hope your summer has been filled with lots of fun and wonderful family times. August 6th is coming up soon! We have been busy here at MWES this summer getting things planned, organized and ready for our first day of school! Our dedicated staff have been in and out all summer making plans for an exciting year and Mr. Larry has spent many hours spit shining the building so that it is ready as well.

MWES would like to welcome two new faces to our school family. Mrs. Kali Ervin is joining the Mt. Washington Elementary staff as the newest addition to their kindergarten team. Mrs. Ervin is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where she received her Bachelors in Elementary Education. Mrs. Ervin comes to MWES from South Green Elementary in Glasgow, Kentucky where she taught kindergarten as well. Mrs. Ervin is excited to join BCPS, especially since her husband, Trevor, is already here serving as band director at Bullitt East High School. Mrs. Ervin is eager to meet her kindergarten students and families and is thrilled to begin her BCPS career at MWES. Another familiar face has joined us at MWES permanently! Rachel Ilickovic will be joining Mrs. Ralston’s classroom as our new kindergarten assistant. Mrs. Ilickovic has been a part of our school family for several years, serving as parent volunteer, classified and certified substitute. We are thrilled to welcome her on a full time basis.

Please mark your calendars for our Back to School Open Houses! Kindergarten Back to School Open House is planned for July 29. If your child’s LAST name begins with A–L, you will have Open House from 6–6:45 that evening. If your child’s LAST name is M–Z, you will come from 7–7:45 pm. This will be an opportunity for our new kindergarten Braves to meet their teacher, see their classroom, drop off supplies and tour our school. Open House for grades 1-5 is scheduled for July 31 from 6–7 pm for all students’ last name A–L. Students’ last name M-Z are invited from 7:30–8:30 pm. You may bring in your supplies and meet your teacher at that time. Please remember that the $20 instructional fee will be due the evening of your Open House.

Enjoy your last few weeks of sleeping late. When the bell rings on August 6, we’ll be ready to "Dive Into Another Great Year!" We can’t wait to see all of you! If you have any questions before our open house, give us a call!
