Graduation Requirements

Standard Diploma Requirements

English- 4 Credits Integrated Science- 1 Credit
Algebra 1- 1 Credit Biology- 1 Credit
Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 2- 1 Credit Art History & Appreciation- 1 Credit
U.S. History- 1 Credit Health- 1/2 Credit
World Civilization- 1 Credit P.E.- 1/2 Credit
Government/Economics- 1 Credit Electives- 7 Credits (at least one credit must be in technology)


* The third math credit (Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 2) may be earned through receiving a half credit in each of these math courses, however it must consist of a 1st  and 2nd semester credit, not just two 1st semester or 2nd semester credits.

If a student is planning on attending a 4 year college/university, they must complete the pre-college curriculum requirements. Those requirements include the above courses with two exceptions: (1) Must take Algebra 2 and (2) Must take two years of the same foreign language.

Vocational Business Career Major

To complete a career major in business, students must earn four career-related credits and the current required credits for graduation. Students will receive a skill standards certificate if they complete four credits in business.  Also, they will receive a seal on their diploma noting this.

Other Diploma Programs

North Bullitt High School also offers Extended and Gifted Diplomas.
The requirements for the extended are below:

Extended Diploma (24 Credits Required)

4 Credits of English 1 Credit of Health/PE
4 Credits of Math 1 Credit of Art History/Appreciation
3 Credits of Science 2 Credits of Foreign Language (same language)
3 Credits of Social Studies 6 Electives (1 must be in Technology)

Gifted Diploma

The credit requirements are the same as the extended diploma, but the students must complete extra requirements such as a project or more challenging assignments in the course in which they wish to earn the  gifted credit. See page 6 for more information.

Earning Credits

Credits are awarded on a semester basis, with 1/2 a credit awarded for each course with a minimum semester grade of 65%. Students who fail to earn credits for required courses will be expected to make up these credits by attending summer school (if failing percentage is 60% or higher) or enrolling in a correspondence course.

Credits earned through an accredited summer school and/or approved correspondence classes shall be counted toward the total credit requirements for any diploma. No more than 3 credits  of correspondence  courses can be counted toward graduation requirements.

Additional Requirements

In addition to the above credit requirements, all students must also complete a writing portfolio, an academic profile, a senior project, a school sponsored or approved activity, and the individual graduation plan that incorporates emphasis on career development.

Enrollment Requirements

High school students are required to enroll in a minimum of 6 credit courses.

Attendance Requirements

Students shall complete  a minimum of 8 semesters  of attendance in grades 9-12.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Honors shall be awarded to students who:

  1. Meet requirements of the Extended or Gifted Diploma;

  2. Receive grades for first semester of the Senior year from a Bullitt County Public High School;

  3. Obtain the highest cumulative average based on grades through the end of the first semester of the Senior Year.

Requirements for Grade Promotion

Freshman, 9th- Promotion from the 8th grade
Sophomore, 10th- 5 credits
Junior, 11th- 10 credits
Senior, 12th- 16 credits
Graduation- 22 credits

Grading Scale

A= 92-100
B= 83-91
C= 74-82
D= 65-73
F= 65 and below
