North Bullitt High School Newsletter

May 2008

Principal’s Notes

Students, Parents & Guardians—

As we approach the last 6 weeks of school, we ask your help in making sure your students are at school and ready to learn.  Once CATS testing is over and summer approaches, students become restless and ready for school to be out.  The staff of North Bullitt will do their best to keep your child engaged and focused with relevant instruction.  We have made a few changes that will affect your child.  The SBDM has passed a policy that will not allow students to take finals early even if family vacations are planned.  The new policy which you will find in this newsletter allows five working days following the last day of school for make-up exams which will need to be scheduled in advance through the guidance office.  Please be aware that we will be enforcing that a student must be passing the majority of their classes and not have severe discipline issues in order to attend field trips.  The only exception to this will be if the field trip is of an educational nature to the extent it would harm the student’s grade if they did not attend.  Our first priority is to ensure your child is successful academically and ready for the successful transition to the work world upon graduation.

We have a tentative date of May 20th for moving into our new addition to the school.  The new media center is near completion now and is quite a showplace.  The twelve new classrooms will have state-of-the-art technology and extra wide hallways.  We are very excited about moving into this new addition.

We are working hard to make sure North Bullitt High achieves the recognition of being the good school that it is.  We are blessed with good staff and good students and with your continued help and support we are on our way to making this goal.

Tracey Lamb, Principal

Final Exam Schedule

Seniors will test on: 6/4 (1st, 3rd, 5th) and 6/5 (2nd, 4th, 6th); underclassmen will test on 6/9 (1st, 3rd, 5th) and 6/10 (2nd, 4th, 6th).  For students having an excused absence for the final exam, the exam must be taken within 5 working days following the last day of school.

Student Parking 2008-2009

The parking policy for the 2008-2009 school year has been changed and approved by the SBDM council.  CATS scores will be the main criteria for determining who receives a parking permit (no longer will extracurricular activities entitle students to a parking space).  The higher a child scores on the CATS test, the more likely they will be to get a parking permit.

Summer School

The first summer session will begin on May 19th (after school from 2:15 – 4:15).  Session B will begin on June 12th (from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.).  You can contact Phyllis Niece in the guidance department for more information.
