  4. Communicate with the teacher's to let them know when you will be in to volunteer.
  5. Notify us if you will not be able to make it on a scheduled day.
  6. Dress appropriately.
  7. Sign-out of the volunteer book when you leave.

More detailed information is below.

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Becky Todd, if you have any questions.  Monday through Friday from 8:45am to 11:45am, 538-7994.

1.  All volunteers are REQUIRED to have a CURRENT YEAR Crime Check on file BEFORE they may volunteer and/or go on a field trip.  You must come in to the school office in person to complete the crime check request.  Please be sure to bring in a picture ID with you.

In the 2004-2005 school year, the crime check requirements changed.  You MUST FILL OUT A NEW CRIME CHECK EVERY YEAR  to volunteer or go on field trips.

2.  Please fill out the Volunteer response form that is sent home with your child.  If you volunteer at Old Mill and do not have a child that attends here, please come in (or call) the office and request a form.  This form helps us to identify those that can help, when, and what areas you wish to assist in.  This also ask for emergency contact information.

3.  You must report to the office when you arrive to sign- in the volunteer book and get a volunteer tag.  This allows us to identify visitors in the school.  Any time you volunteer is time that needs to be recorded in our Volunteer Hours book so if you volunteer time outside of the school, please keep track of those hours and enter them in the volunteer hours book on your next visit.  Every minute is important and this assist me in keeping accurate records.

4.  Teacher's need help in many ways and love the assistance.    However, please try to communicate with the teacher you wish to assist, in advance, so they may have things ready for you when you arrive and not interrupt instruction time.  If you find you have some extra time to offer but  have not scheduled time with a teacher, please come in and speak with Becky Todd or other office personnel; there is always something to do.

5.  Please let us know if you cannot make it in on a scheduled day.  I understand this is not a job, but this does assist the teachers and staff in knowing they must complete those task during planning time or locate another volunteer for that time.

6.  We do ask that all volunteers follow our dress code policy when volunteering.  The children do take notice of our attire and look to us as an example.  (Please NO...strapless tops, extremely short shorts or skirts, and no exposed midriffs)

7.  Please be sure to sign-out when you leave the building.
